What to Expect at the Wedding

So, you’re planning on coming to our wedding, but you’ve heard words like flame throwers and roller skates tossed around. You’re still not quite sure what atomic punk retro futurism is or what to expect at this Vegas spectacular wedding you’ve agreed to attend. Well, here’s the details everyone is wondering about!

ATTIRE: The wedding style is atomic punk retro futurism. It’s the past’s vision of the future. Clean minimal lines in a spacey mid century modern interpretation. Think The Jetsons, Lost In Space, Buck Rogers, Barbarella and of course Star Trek, though this is not a “Trekie” wedding. It’s not required, but many of the guests attending are choosing to dress in theme so if you want to join in on the fun you won’t be the only one. That being said, it’s an afternoon wedding on a Tuesday, please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.

LOCATION: The wedding ceremony and reception are both being held at an event space inside a strip mall in southeast Las Vegas. There is plenty of free parking as well as rideshare accessibility. Do not fear, all flamethrower use will be done outside and with the supervision of our special effects/pyrotechnic expert. There will be plenty of seating at tables and couches as well as a dance floor to shake your groove thing.

WEATHER: Average Las Vegas temperatures for the week of the wedding predict highs in the mid-60s and lows in the mid-40s with sunny skies. If you’re not used to desert weather, please come prepared with lotion and lip balm. It’s dry out here!

ENTERTAINMENT: It’s so exciting that so many of our talented friends will be helping us celebrate our marriage. The ceremony will be performed by Community Lutheran’s Pastor Brian Ward, who has full permission to officiate dressed as an alien. The reception and roast will be MCed by touring stand-up comedian, Mike Krasner so be prepared to laugh. If you like his act, ask when he will be performing at one of the local casinos when you’re in town. It wouldn’t be a Vegas spectacular without a magic act either, so CJ and Momo will be amazing our guests with their art of illusion. Still looking to secure a DJ but Brodie has agreed to take on the challenge and get everyone dancing with his new mixing gear if we need him to step in.

PHOTO & VIDEO: We have an exceptional professional photographer hired to capture this spectacular event. Unlike traditional wedding etiquette though we are accepting if not encouraging of our guests capturing their POV with cell phones and cameras. We just ask that you refrain from using flash photography or capturing unflattering angles of the bride. After the wedding we would appreciate everyone uploading what they have to our Google Drive folder.

FOOD & BEVERAGE: We are excited to incorporate our favorite foods into the wedding reception. We will be getting pizza and garlic knots from Bambino’s pizza and setting up a spectacular salad bar for anyone who wants to eat a little lighter, or at least save room for dessert since we’ll be having Freed’s cookies and a two-tier ice cream wedding cake from Baskin Robbins. There will be water, juice, soda and mixers for a stocked liquor bar, no bartender though so please drink responsibly. Since Nevada is a legal state, there will also be a cannabis bar in a closed room with air purifiers away from guest who might be averse to the smoke. All tobacco smoking and vaping should be done outside.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: Aside from the flame throwers, no weapons will be allowed on the premises, it’s not that kind of party. We are not going to pry into our guests’ personal health choices but instead respect everyone’s right to privacy. Vaccine records will not be checked, and masks are optional. We ask anyone that has been exposed to or is experiencing symptoms of any illness to celebrate with us online instead of in person.
